" Your kids may already have picked up from society that race is -- taboo subject. But that doesn't have to be the case in your household. I'm Pat Carroll for Parents Magazine with raising our kids. Don't just directly tell your kid to be tolerant instead teach him about children in other countries explaining what they eat how they speak. Which holidays they may observe. Make it a cultural learning experience. You should also make it a point to expose your child to children of different races. If you live in a homogenous community seek out opportunities to interact with diverse crowds. Even if that means something as small as going to a different playground or even seeking out health professionals of different races. If your child displays prejudice at some point remember that silence indicates acceptance. Go beyond simply scolding him and explain why it is unacceptable. With raising our kids I'm Pat Carroll deputies CBS 880."
